SMCA FAMILY UNITS are the small gatherings of members of SMCA, residing within a locality. Family Units are established to keep SMCA vibrant and to ensure the growth of the association. Family Units have become the strong hold of the association since its inception in 2007. Fr. Joseph Edappulavan OCD, the then Syro Malabar priest of Kuwait was very much instrumental in the establishment of SMCA Family Units. Each unit is submitted to the intercession of a Catholic Saint and is known by that name. The members of a family unit are equally divided into 3 to 5 wards. Ward representatives elected for each ward acts as the basic link between the member and the association. Ward representatives also resumes office at various levels of governance in the association. Family units have regular monthly meetings. A couple member of the family unit, elected as the leader of the family unit, presides the monthly meetings and keeps the attendance and reports of the meetings. Family Unit meeting procedures are stipulated in SMCA bylaw as appendix. The motto of family units is to "Pray, study and to share".

ഒരു പ്രത്യേക പ്രദേശത്തു നിവസിക്കുന്ന SMCAഅംഗങ്ങളുടെ ചെറിയ കൂട്ടായ്മയാണ് SMCA ഫാമിലി യൂണിറ്റ്. സംഘടനയുടെ സജ്‌ജീവത്വവും വളർച്ചയും ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കിയാണ് 2007 ൽ SMCA ഫാമിലി യൂണിറ്റുകൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ചത്. അന്നുമുതൽ സംഘടനയുടെ ശക്തികേന്ദ്രമായി ഈ സംവിധാനം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു വരുന്നു. അക്കാലത്തു കുവൈറ്റിൽ സേവനം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന OCD മലബാർ പ്രൊവിൻസിൽനിന്നുള്ള ജോസഫ് ഇടപ്പുളവൻ അച്ചൻ ഇതിനായി മുന്നിട്ടിറങ്ങി.
ഓരോ ഫാമിലി യൂണിറ്റും ഒരു വിശുദ്ധന്റെ/വിശുദ്ധയുടെ മാദ്യസ്ഥത്തിന് സമർപ്പിക്ക പ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ആ വിശുദ്ധന്റെ പേരിലാണ് യൂണിറ്റ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നതും. ഒരു യൂണിറ്റിൽ ഉള്ള അംഗങ്ങളെ ഏകദേശം തുല്യ അംഗസംഖ്യ വരത്തക്കവിധം 3 മുതൽ 5വരെ വാർഡ്‌ കളായി തിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഓരോ വാർഡിലേക്കും തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെടുന്ന വാർഡ്പ്രതിനിധി കളാണ് അംഗങ്ങളും സംഘടനയും തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധം നിലനിർത്തുന്നത്. സംഘടനയുടെ പലതലത്തിലുള്ള ഭാരവാഹികൾ ആവുന്നതും ഈ വാർഡ് പ്രതിനിധികൾ ആണ്. എല്ലാ മാസവും നിശ്ചയിക്കപെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ദിവസം ഫാമിലി യൂണിറ്റുകൾ ചേരുന്നു. ഫാമിലി യൂണിറ്റ് ലീഡർ ആയി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ദമ്പതികൾ ഇത്തരം യോഗങ്ങളിൽ പ്രാർത്ഥനകൾ നയിക്കുകയും, അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിക്കുകയും, റിപ്പോർട്ട് ഹാജർ എന്നിവ സൂക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു യൂണിറ്റ് യോഗങ്ങളുടെ നടപടിക്രമം SMCA നിയമാവലിയിൽ ഒരു അപ്പെന്ഡിക്സ് ആയി ചേർത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. "പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുക, പഠിക്കുക, പങ്കുവെക്കുക" എന്നതാണ് ഫാമിലി യൂണിറ്റുകളുടെ മുദ്രാവാക്യം.
